Deu no Globo de hoje, 8/12/2009:
Depois de uma temporada em São Paulo, a mostra “Propagandas de Cigarro – Como a Indústria do Fumo Enganou as Pessoas” ficará no Rio até 17 de janeiro, na Caixa Cultural. A exposição reúne 63 peças publicitárias, produzidas entre 1920 e 1950 para a TV e veículos impressos, que mostram como a indústria do tabaco escondia os efeitos nocivos do fumo. Na capital paulista, o evento atraiu mais de 60 mil pessoas.
As imagens, selecionadas e organizadas pelos médicos Robert K. Jackler e Robert N. Proctor, professores da Universidade de Stanford, nos Estados Unidos, fazem parte do acervo de domínio público mantido no Smithsonian Institution, em Washington. Jackler iniciou a compilação das peças quando a mãe morreu, com câncer de pulmão, após fumar por toda a vida.
Entre as peças expostas, há muitas curiosas: “Mais médicos fumam Camel do que qualquer outro cigarro”; “Dê férias para a sua garganta, fume um cigarro refrescante” (Camel); “A proteção para a sua garganta contra irritação e tosse (Lucky Strike)”; “19.293 dentistas recomendam. Fume Viceroy! Nunca mancharão seus dentes!” Até Papai Noel foi usado em anúncios: “Como seria o Natal sem o cigarro Murad?” As peças foram trazidas ao Brasil pela agência de publicidade NovaS/B para o evento, que tem apoio da Caixa Cultural e do Instituto Nacional do Câncer (Inca).
A mostra está em cartaz no Foyer Térreo da Caixa Cultural, na Avenida Almirante Barroso 25, no Centro, e pode ser vista de terça a sábado, das 10h às 22h; e aos domingos, das 10h às 21h. A entrada é franca, com classificação livre.
